Collectively, we concluded that Google Forms was the ideal digital tool to use to gather data from a questionnaire. Beneifts of this choice include being able to edit it simultaneously from different computers. Additionally, Google Forms is an advantageous choice as we can look at individual responses and delete the responses that don't meet our specified demographic. We can also have more than 10 questions per survey, which allows us to conduct thorough research; this wouldn't have been the case had we chosen to use Survey Monkey. We considered it in the planning stage as we noticed that previous media students used it but we felt that this would limit our research.
We agreed to have the survey up for 1 week, which is more than enough time to get a respectable amount of responses deduct some conclusions from our data.

Results from Survey

This a graph in which shows the result of the favourite sub-genre from people who answered our survey - as you can see the Thriller genre was extremely popular. As a group we wanted to do a slasher film because we felt we could create a lot of footage with this kind of trailer – after looking at the results and seeing how popular thriller and supernatural were we decided to give our trailer a supernatural twist onto a slasher; steering away from the stereotypes and making a trailer that combines two different sub-genres.
The next question we asked was ‘what don’t you like about horror films?’ - People really didn’t like predictable story lines which got 40% voting as the thing they dislike the most. As a group we took this into account while writing our treatment and decided we were going to avoid stereotypes and aim to make our story as interesting as possible without the audience being able to guess exactly what will happen.

We also wanted to see what setting our audience would prefer – the most popular setting was a normal house, we think this is because it gives something perfectly normal a creepy feel which could overall create a whole new atmosphere of the trailer. The least popular was a school – Aimee’s treatment was based in a school but as this was the least popular idea we had to think of alternatives for her locations.
It's easy.We also asked the question of which did they prefer – fictional or non-fictional horror films. The response was fairly even with just over 50% saying they preferred non-fiction. This gave us an idea of how we were going to create the trailer and what the story was going to be like. We wanted to create a trailer that a large audience of people would want to see and also something that would also interest that other 50%.
